1ère L spé 2014/2015 : boys and girls commercials.

Look at the following commercials, and give your opinion, what do you think?

SO? You should have watched the videos by now...What is your opinion?

Pub music are here for kids, to go to another world. There are differents worlds. Colours, Musics... are here for purchase.
The last video is different. Yes, it's for purchase but it's a sexist ad and i don't like it.

And don't you think the two first ads are sexist? Or maybe not sexist but stereotyped? What does it say about little boys and little girls?

I don't like any of these ads, because it is full of stereotypes

I think these ads are funny with their music and their colours but I don't like the last ad because it's a little bit sexist

Yes all ads are sexist but our life is like it. All our life we have sexist ads. Stereotypes are different of sexism because stereotype is a wrong idea but funny, sexism is here all our life, influences our wages, ideas, lifestyle...

I think this ads are very attractive for childrens because they puts in scene lot of actions and cutness . But it can be dangerous because for boys's toys, they can try to do exactly what the ad showed and they can hurt.

Ludmilla, what are the stereotypes precisely? And do you think these ads are exaggerated? Can you see the same type of ads in France?

How are the little boys and the little girls represented in these ads?

It's right: on the first ad we can see little girls who take care of a puppet which is a baby. So, I understand girls is only a mum.
And on the second ad, we can see boys who look like super heros so boys are super heros.
It's very a stereotype

The ad are made to make the people want to buy the products but it's also stereotyped because it's like every girl wear pink and every boy wear blue

Andrea says : This videos are so cliche, girls playing with baby, Learning their futur mum's job.. And videos for boys are only with toys related with war or things quite violent to remind them roles of men... The last advert is the worst one, but fortunately it was in the past, I hope that if today something like that was on TV every one will do a scandal!!!

i think, the product in the video is for kids and the video is for parents because the parents buy the product.

I think the videos have been create for holiday period, because they are manny toys ad for children, I think the videos are effectives because the kids like the colors and the music, and it's make buy the parents.

I think the two first ads are not sexiest but more stereotyped for exemple the baby blue is a boy and the baby pink is a girl. This stereotype was created since so long.

What about his ad? Yes, it's in the past, but what was the message? And do you think sexist ads still exist today? In the same way or in a different way?

Personally, I don't want buy this toys because I don't like their cliche

So these ads are not really sexist because it give much indication ( it's a toy for boys, it's a toy for girls) . I think it is not normal to associate a girl or a boy with colors but it is less horrible than comparing men and women ( advertising for coffee).

We see this kind of ads everywhere : in tv, magazine... and there are ads like that in France too.
It's said in those ads that if you're a boy you like superheroes, action etc. and if you're a girl, you obviously like dolls and pink things. That's exaggerated : a girl may like superheroes too, and vice versa.

Boy likes blue and girl likes pink it's a sexist idea

i think it's so cliché! little girl with puppet and boy with "super power". I think the girl can play with the " boy's toy" and the boy can play with the puppet!
